Workshops
Our workshops are at the heart of MEMC, offering students the chance to move beyond lectures and step directly into the action. Each session is crafted to give you practical, hands-on experience with the essential skills used every day in emergency medicine.

Led by experienced physicians and instructors, these workshops blend clinical expertise, real-world scenarios, and interactive teaching. Whether it’s practicing trauma procedures, navigating a mass casualty simulation, or sharpening your ultrasound skills, you’ll be challenged to think critically, act decisively, and collaborate effectively with peers.

By participating, you’ll not only strengthen your technical abilities but also gain valuable insights into teamwork

Trauma Skills 101
Led by Dr. Callaghan Jull
During our Trauma 101 simulation, students will rotate through hands-on skills stations to strengthen their clinical judgment, technical accuracy, and communication. Under expert supervision, participants will have the chance to practice essential trauma procedures, like shock assessment, bleeding control, and airway management, in a focused, collaborative environment that blends education with real-world application.

Mass Casualty Simulation:
First to the Scene
Led by Dr. Sacha Weill and Dr. Michael Shaulin
What happens when help is needed now and you’re the first to arrive? In this real-life-inspired disaster medicine workshop, students will lead the charge in a simulated mass casualty response. Navigate START triage protocols, make tough calls under time constraints, and coordinate care with limited resources. Between a field simulation and a triage board game, teams will compete to sharpen crisis strategy, prioritize with confidence, and show they can lead when the system is stretched to its limits.

SonoQuest: The Emergency Ultrasound Challenge
Led by Dr. Alexander Hart
This station-driven workshop puts ultrasound skills front and center. In SonoQuest, students will rotate through three high-yield stations. Whether they are scanning, interpreting clips, or solving clinical puzzles, all stations are designed to stretch image fluency and diagnostic reasoning. You’ll compete under the guidance of expert clinicians to show not only how well you scan, but how cleverly you think. Only one team will emerge as the ultimate Scanning champions and win this quest!
